PITEÅ SUMMER ACADEMY

The focus in the masterclass with Stockholm Chamber Brass will be to explore the possibilities and challenges that come with playing a brass instrument as an individual and as an ensemble. You will receive lessons from all the members of the world famous Stockholm Chamber Brass as well as having the opportunity to perform in a larger brass ensemble with them. If you would like to apply as an established group the members of SCB can also coach your group directly. The course ends with a concert with the participants on June 19th.

Piteå summer academy is arranged in collaboration with Festspelen in Piteå.

Stockholm chamber brass

Stockholm Chamber Brass is one of the leading brass ensembles in the world, established 35 years ago. The quintet regularly performs at the world’s leading festivals and have released six critically acclaimed albums ranging from the classics of the brass quintet repertoire, their own arrangements of renaissance dances and songs to many of the over 50 new works they have commissioned.

Application deadline is April 30. You can apply to this masterclass by completing the form below and sending your link or audio file with a recent recording of your playing (piece is free of choice) to masterclasses@framnas.nu

PRICE

Payment for the course, 550 SEK, includes copies of sheet music, coffee and swedish “fika” in the afternoon. Pay when you are admitted to the course to keep your place.

Staying at Framnäs

Accomodation with breakfast, lunch and dinner: 945 SEK/day

Accomodation with breakfast: 533 SEK/day

Accomodation only: 450 SEK/day

Bedding and towels are included in the prices.

Pay your visit when you arrive at Framnäs. We prefer kredit card.

We need a minimum of 10 dinner guests for the restaurant to stay opened. Possibility to cook is available in the living areas. You find food stores, café and restaurants less than 2 kilometers from Framnäs.

TRAVEL TO FRAMNÄS FOLKHÖGSKOLA

Framnäs folkhögskola is located in Öjebyn, about 10 minutes with bus from Piteå city.

The easiest way to travel to Framnäs is by flying to Luleå Airport. You can book a transfer (shared taxi) from and to the airport by mailing or calling Sverigetaxi. Their email is telefonister@pitetaxi.se and telephone number is +46 911 800 00.

If you want to take the train you can travel from the Central Station in Stockholm or from Arlanda Airport. The closest train stop is Älvsbyn train station. From there you can either book a transfer or go by bus to Piteå.
